Depending on where you are in the world, you may be familiar with the tradition of shopping the day after Christmas, December 26, for amazing deals. In the U.S., it's the "After Christmas Sale" & in other parts of the world it's "Boxing Day Sale".
I wasn't too familiar with the later, Boxing Day, until this year. Below is a short definition but an even shorter definition for U.S. residents is "Black Friday" shopping.
From the wiki:
Origins
The celebration is traditional, dating back to the middle ages, and consisted of the practice of giving of gifts to employees, the poor, or to people in a lower social class. The name has numerous folk etymologies[3]; the Oxford English Dictionary attributes it to the Christmas box; the verb box meaning: "To give a Christmas-box (colloq.); hence boxing-day."
